ALMIRALL PRODESFARMA, SA, WO2006/133802, A1, (2006) b) (5-chloro-2-methoxyphenyl)acetic acidPotassium hydroxide (169.4 g, 3019 mmols) was dissolved in water (200 ml.) and ethanol was added (1090 mL). 2-(5-chloro-2-methoxy-phenyl)-1-morpholin-4-yl-ethan ethione (62.0 g, 217 mmols) was added to this solution and it was stirred at reflux for 18 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and water/ice were added. It was washed with diethyleth er and the aqueous phase was acidified with hydrochloric acid. It was stirred for 15 minutes and it was extracted with diethyl ether. The organic phase was washed with water and brine, dried, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The solid obtained was triturated with a mixture of diethyl ether (30 mL) and hexane (40 mL). It was filtered and dried to give the title compound (35.6 g).
